Traffic Safety

Encompassing many different sectors, Traffic Safety is at the center of human health and safety. The relevant sectors should always be in contact in order to reach targets and solutions while improving and developing continuously.

It is not solely enough for departments with different duties and responsibilities in areas such as inspection, training, infrastructure and health in respect of road traffic safety to fulfill their duties separately to ensure effective traffic safety.

In other words, traffic problem is not a problem that can be solved by any authority alone. The success in road safety is only possible through harmonized cooperation between all institutions and authorities.

All stakeholders that play role in the operation of transportation system should carry joint responsibility and all citizens and public and private sector and non-governmental organizations should share the same safety vision and responsibility. This understanding covers the basic traffic education starting at very early ages while ensuring the continuity of such education and aligning all sections of the society with safe system approaches.

Each year approximately 1.4 million people lose their lives in traffic accidents all around the world with 50 million others being injured. The cost of traffic accidents in the world has reached 550 billion $ and this figure means wasting 3% of the GNP of countries.
